Art Journaling - SKETCHING & DOODLING

Painting is my passion, however, I do spend a lot of time sketching and doodling. For me the difference between sketching and doodling is intent. When I sketch it's usually planned, I take out my pencils, my sketchbook or journal and begin drawing. In sketching it's not that I always know what I am going to draw, its more that I planned to draw. On the other hand with doodling, it's not planned and I sometimes doodle while watching television, at meetings, waiting in a line, car repairs, at a doctor's office, etc. Doodling is unplanned, I'll doodle on a napkin, a piece of paper or whatever is handy. My tools, I sometimes use color pencils, but mostly graphite.
